Travel Information - How to reach Strasbourg

  • Strasbourg-Entzheim International Airport www.strasbourg.aeroport.fr
    Strasbourg-Entzheim International Airport is just 10 km from Strasbourg town centre via the motor-way. You can take a shuttle train to Strasbourg Main Station. Click here to see the timetable of the shuttle. It takes about 9 minutes from the airport to the main station. You can buy a combined ticket which will allow you to use the bus/tramway within Strasbourg city to reach your Hotel (less than 4 EUR).
    Alternatively, taxis are available at the airport until 11 pm, the arrival time of the last flight (more expensive and not faster than the shuttle).

  • Basel-Mulhouse airport (Distance: 130 km from Strasbourg) www.euroairport.com
    From Basel-Mulhouse airport, the best is to go to Strasbourg by train. First go to Saint Louis SNCF train station, connected to EuroAirport by bus (Distribus shuttle no 11; timetable: www.distribus.com).
    From Saint Louis train station, take a regional train to Mulhouse ("TER"). It takes between 13 and 26 minutes, depending on the number of stops made by the train. From Mulhouse train station, take another regional train to Strasbourg main station. The journey takes a little bit less than one hour. Up-to-date timetables will be provided here when available.
    Note that you can take a taxi from the airport to go to Mulhouse train station directly. This will cost about 45 Euros (day) - 60 Euros (night).

  • Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport (Distance: 58 km from Strasbourg) www.badenairpark.de
    From the airport, take a train to Baden-Baden station ("Bahnof" - 13 km and 17 min journey time). From there, take another train to Strasbourg main station, It takes about one hour travelling.

  • Frankfurt airport (Distance: 210 km from Strasbourg) www.airportcity-frankfurt.de
    Most of the attendees coming from far away are likely to land here (or in Paris). This is the largest airport in Europe. There is a shuttle service from the airport to Strasbourg: Lufthansa-airportbus. This shuttle service might be included directly with your flight-ticket, especially if you travel with Lufthansa. Ask your travel agency. The trip takes 2 hours and a half.
    You can also take a train at the airport DB station to reach Strasbourg. Please visit DB Bahn to get timetables.


  • Shuttle service: as an alternative, you can arrange directly a travel from any of the above-mentionned airports to Strasbourg, by using Alsace-Navette.

  • The Paris airports (Distance: 490 km from Strasbourg) www.aeroportsdeparis.fr
    If you land in Airport Charles-de-Gaulle, you have a direct connection by fast train ("TGV") to Strasbourg. The Paris-Charles de Gaulle SNCF station is located between terminals 2C-2D and 2E-2F. The station is called "Aéroport Charles de Gaulle 2 - TGV". There is only a few direct trains per day, but if it fits to your time-schedule this is clearly the best option. The trip takes about 2 hours and a half only!
    If you cannot catch such a train, you will have to follow these guidelines: first take a train to Paris-Nord train station, by using the RER B, click here for timetables and informations about train-station locations within the airport. From "Gare du Nord", go to "Gare de l'Est", it is about 10 min walking, see the map below.

    You can also take the subway (Metro) number 4 or 5, see the map of Paris' Metro.

    From Gare de l'Est, you have all the train connections to Strasbourg; take a fast train "TGV" there. The trip is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. Visit www.tgv-europe.com/en/ or www.voyages-sncf.com/ to see timetables and book your ticket. Please allow a substantial amount of time to go from the airport to the train station.
    Please note that booking is compulsory for the TGV. If seats are still available, you can book just right before the train departure, when you buy your ticket at the desk. You may also be able to book and pay in advance using Internet and get an electronic ticket, but this might not work for all countries.



By Train

Strasbourg is connected to the East-European TGV (fast train), and is easy to reach by train. Visit www.tgv-europe.com/en/ or www.voyages-sncf.com/ to see timetables and book your ticket. You may also use the very good website of the DB Bahn.
Please note that booking is compulsory for the TGV. If seats are still available, you can book just right before the train departure, when you buy your ticket at the desk. You may also be able to book and pay in advance using Internet and get an electronic ticket, but this might not work for all countries.
